Old New England Restoration proudly showcases the Jonathan Cutler Homestead, in Holliston, MA. The ell, seen on the left rear of the home, was the original home and built by William Sheffield in 1728. In 1807, the Four Square Federal Manner home was erected by Jonathan Cutler Jr. Mr. Cutler, who had a sawmill on the property, produced much of the lumber for the home, as well as many other homes in town. The Jonathan Cutler Homestead is perfectly situated on a beautiful property of many acres. Throughout its interior and exterior, this magnificent home is rich in history. Its welcoming persona gracefully combines grandeur with charm. Old New England Restoration is pleased to be amongst the finest of craftsmen who have been privileged to maintain this treasured home's historical integrity.
The current home owners hired Old New England Restoration to perform structural and exterior services. In consultation with the home owners, the project included replacement of sills, rebuilding and restoring of pediments, replacement of clapboards, scraping and reglazing of windows and installation of invisible storm windows. During the project, it was discovered that a stone patio, built in the 1950's, directly abutting the home, was causing moisture to be trapped. While the patio was a favored area of the homeowners, the careful dismantlement and repair has ensured the home's long- lived preservation. The home owners enjoy their new patio, in an even more desirable area. The major restoration was finished with meticulous painting of the entire home.
