Additions

An Addition Should be a Seamless Aesthetic Extension

Additions to older homes are frequently an area where many problems exist. It was often out of necessity that additions were created, to accommodate growing and/or extended families. At times, there was little regard given to the original period of architecture, aesthetic value or even the wellbeing of the home. When Old New England Restoration creates an addition or renovates an existing addition, the general character of the home must flow into and out of the addition. An addition should be a seamless aesthetic extension of the home, not a displaced or overwhelming one. Products such as custom mill and cornice work and reproduction windows and doors, help to establish an image that blends old to new. Present day technology, for comfort and efficiency, are typically recommended and need to be considered to meet new Massachusetts energy codes.
